How ROFA functions

Systematic fly control: ROFA-ULV fine spray devices
The significant advantage of these new fine spray devices lies in the even distribution of droplets of even size in the control of crawling and flying insects.
Pig and cattle stalls, and stables and poultry barns in particular that are severely infested with flies can be cleared extremely economically through the limited use of a biodegradable, thus environmentally-friendly agent, with the minimum of effort. For a stall with an area of 500 m², 10 to 15 minutes is now all it takes, instead of the usual 2 to 3 hours!
This spray procedure generates droplets of 38 microns in size, which are proven not to enter the lungs but at the same time provide a distribution of 45 million droplets from 1 millilitre of preparation thanks to the high rotation speed (12,000 rpm). These small droplets have a low settling velocity, i.e. they float in the air for a long time. The continuous flight of the insects thus leads automatically to successful treatment, which is hard to achieve using other spray procedures.
The fine spray device means that efficient and effective control is now possible. Set-up time is not required as the preparation is sprayed undiluted. It is non-hazardous for warm-blooded animals.
Flies, cockroaches and midges are not only a great evil in stalls as carriers of illness but they unsettle the animals and adversely affect the success of animal rearing and fattening.
In long-term, practical experiments, this new device technology was successfully tested by the Federal Health Office in Berlin (now Federal institut for assessment of risk), together with environmentally-friendly, biodegradable preparations (natural pyrethrum extract, obtained from the African pyrethrum flower), against cockroaches in bakeries and food companies and against flying insects in stalls. The ROFA-ULV device is authorized by the Federal Biological Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry for spraying pesticides indoors, including in greenhouses.
The active substances are characterised by an immediate and particularly high killing rate and economical consumption. The quantity of the preparation applied using the ROFA-ULV fine spray device is 50 to 80 ml for a stall approx. 500 m² in area, depending on the temperature, season and level of infestation. We recommend switching off the ventilation temporarily.
This modern procedure, i.e. using environmentally friendly, non-toxic preparations with the most modern, economical technology, is the future generation of successful insect control.

Example:

  1. Volume of the stall approx. 1,500 m³
  2. Duration of spray approx. 5 minutes
  3. Consumption approx. 50 to 80 ml. Switch off ventilation for up to 15 minutes after spraying.
  4. CAUTION! At temperatures of 30 to 35°, switch off the ventilation for no longer than 10 minutes.
  5. Work backwards from the end of the central aisle towards the exit. Hold the device horizontally.
  1. Treat one side first, then the boxes on the other side.
