MANKAR®-DRIVE - Mounted units for large area application

The units for mounting or attachment are suited to deployment over large areas, such as in orchards and vineyards, as well as in-row cultivation and puplic parks. The essential features distinguishing the different models are:

The number, width and configuration of the spray hoods:
Spray hoods, including their spray widths, number and configuration, are adapted according to the area of application, such as for narrow strip spraying along rows or for complete coverage of wide pathways.

Herbicide metering:
Metering takes place by means of wheel-driven or electric-driven pumps.

Mounting or attachement options:
Models are available for front- and rear-mounting, exlusively for front- or for rear-mounting, as well as models for simple attachment.

Extension width or working width of the extension arm:
Differing, mostly variable extension widths are available.

VARIMANT models

Varimant models for front or rear-mounting are suited to tasks where, above all, weight-savings are a consideration, such as on steep slopes or on unstable terrain, or where path-dependent metering is not desired. The Varimant pump, as with the nozzle, is electrically driven via the tractor's on-board power supple while the spray jet is switched on and off by the push of a button. The unit's extension arms are standard equipped with plastic spray hoods with a spray width of 36 cm. A folding mechanism on the extension arm ensures that the spray hood folds back upon contact with an obstacle (e.g. tree trunk) so that no damage will occur. The folding mechanism spring can be optionally replaced with a softer  spring in order to better protect tender, young trees, for example, from damage. The spray hood, itself, rotates upon contact with the obstacle.

Varimant models are aslo available with optional spray hoods with a steel roll-up device and a 40 cm spray width. This device rolls up upon contact with the obstacle and protects the spray hood, above all, from being damaged.

VARIMANT-1 and VARIMANT-2
These units are fitted with one or two extension arms with spray hoods, which can spray 36 cm wide strips along the rows. Primary areas of application are for large-scale in-row cultivation, such as in orchards and vineyards, in nurseries, as well as in olive groves.

In addition to the two extension arms, the Varimant-4 Plus has two more spray hoods, each with a 45 cm spray width. In this manner, wide strips of 50 - 85 cm each can be maintained weed-free along rows of cultivated plants.
VARIMANT-WINNER models
As with the other Varimant models, the Varimant-Winner units have electric-driven pumps and back-folding spray hoods. They are also primarily deployed in orchards and vineyards, in nurseries and in other in-row cultivations. Yet, they were adapted to special demands:

The Varimant-Winner Top is distinguished by its electrically adjustable working width of 1.85 to 3.55 cm. Working widths can be adapted to the row widths or to constrictions quickly and without great effort.

The Varimant-Winner Uno is another variant with only one spray hood on the spray system, which can be selected for mounting on left-side or on the right-side of the tractor, as desired.
FLEXOMANT models
The Flexomant models for rear-mounting are suited particularly to areas of application, where a precise, uniformly metered application of the herbicides onto the treated surface area is required. The pumps on the Flexomant models are wheel-driven, meaning that metering is dependent on the distance travelled (adjustment: l per ha) and not on the speed of the forward motion. The nozzles are electrically driven via the tracor's on-board power supply.

An articulated parallelogram between the attachement and the wheel ensures that the wheels remain on the surface, even over rough terrain, so that the pump is driven continiously. The small gap between the nozzle or spray hood and the ground remains constant so that drift is avoided.

The unit's extension arms are standard equipped with spray hoods with a steel roll-up device and a spray width of 40 cm. UNIMA-E 60-120 FLEX

The Unima-E 60-120 FLEX is a unit for mounting onto single-axle applicators and for front-mounting on tractors. It is fitted with a stable metal spray hood with automatically retracting side-wings and covers a spray width of 60 to 120 cm. Its high degree of stability is particularly useful in areas of low hanging branches and high weed growth. Metering takes place via an electric-driven pump with a rechargeable battery*.

The advantages of single-axle applicators can be combined with the MANKAR® ULV Spraysystem for deployment in Christmas tree plantations, for example, where uneven terrain or steep up-slope and down-slope gradients are present.

TRAMA and TRAMUS
The Trama and Tramus models are fitted with wheel-driven pumps so that metering is dependent on the distance travelled and not on the speed of the forward motion. Nozzles are driven by a rechargeable battery or an on-board power supply. An articulated parallelogram ensures that wheel contact to the surface is not lost so that the pump drive is not interrupted. The spray hood is adjustable from 70 to 110 cm on both units.

The Tramus is a unit designed for simple attachment onto a ride-on mower or small tractor. Its primary areas of application are lawns and pathways with hard paved surface.

The Trama can also be attached simply to a ride-on mower or small tractor, yet it is often used as a rear-mounted unit with 3-point attachement (Art.-No. 100767). A particular advantage is that multiple Trama units can be mounted side by side. In this way, a very large spray width can be realised, which is particularly advantageous for deployment on very large surface areas. Because wheel contact to the surface and a constant gap between the nozzle and the ground are guaranteed for each Trama unit independently via the articulated parallelogram, a wide total spray width is possible with this unit, even over rough terrain.

UNIMA-City and TRAMUS-City

These two models are especially oriented to the demands in communal areas, as well as to large-scale areas such as found around industrial facilities. The total spray width of 120 cm is well-suited to pathway application, as well as to large-area application.


 Both models are also available with weed sensors from Weedseeker®. The sensors in these units detect weed growth by means of infrared technology and trigger the targeted spraying process. In so doing, the 4 nozzles on the unit are controlled individually. The areas where weeds are not growing are not sprayed. In this manner, the amount of herbicide output and the associated environmental impact is reduced to an even greater extent than with the MANKAR® ULV Spraying systems without sensors, so that, as an example and depending on weed problem, instead of 0.5 - 1 l/ha of Roundup (glyphosate) for sealed surfaces, only approx. 0.25 - 1 l/ha is required.

UNIMA-City is a front-mounted unit. Standard equipment includes an adapter for mounting onto a STIGA® riding mower. It is mounted simply in place of the mower attachment. The STIGA® is very maneuverable thanks to its articulated steering, so that obstructions can be easily driven around, while accessing corners and driving alongside fences and walls can be accomplished without a problem. Suitable adapters for front-mounting on other riding mowers and tractors are also available on request.
