The segment rotation nozzle

All MANKAR® spraying systems are based on ULV (Ultra-Low-Volume) technology, meaning that they have “particulary small (output) quantities”. This is a further development of CDA (Controlled Droplet Application) technology whereby, in comparison to conventional spray process, smaller liquid droplets can be generated with uniform sizes. The droplets size (or its narrow size spectrum) is thereby adapted to the area of application.

The core element of all MANKAR® ULV spraying systems is the segment rotary nozzle patented by Mantis

spray pattern

A defined volume of chemical solution is conveyed via pump or metering valve to the sement rotary nozzle, which generates droplets within a very narrow size spectrum (approx. 150 microns). The rotary nozzle does not spray all around, but merely vertically downwards in a segment that is adjustable in width. Exess herbicide distributed outside this segment is redirected back to the rotating disc, eliminating waste an overspray.

Using this nozzle, herbicides can be applied in an undiluted state. The droplets are discharged without pressure and vertically downwards, thus arriving at the precise location where they are needed. A spray hood prevents additional drift due to wind. The spray width can be adjusted at the nozzle between 10 an 55 centimetres so, depending on the area of application, the exact width desired can be realised by fitting the spray unit with one or more nozzles.
